Celebrating Pastels

This is a juried exhibition open to all paid members of the Austin Pastel Society. Entry fee is $45 per artist for up to three (3) images, with a limit of three (3) entries per artist. Entries must not have been previously exhibited in any prior APS Annual Juried Exhibition or A05 Gallery exhibit.

Work must be minimum 80% soft pastel with no oil pastel allowed. All work must be original; compositions based on another artist's work, published materials, workshop paintings under another artist's supervision, or paintings based on another person's photograph are not eligible. Work created with optical projections or digital assistance is not eligible. Paintings must have been completed in the last three (3) years. Representational, traditional, or abstract artworks are accepted, including figural nudes in good taste. Maximum size is 40 inches in either direction (framed). Artwork must be professionally framed and ready to hang with wire supported by two sturdy hangers. No saw-toothed hangers, metal frames, colored top mats, or colored frames (except gold and silver) are permitted. Either Plexiglas or glass is allowed.

Submit high-quality JPEG image files at least 1500 pixels on the longest edge with a maximum file size of 30 MB. Images must be cropped to show only the artwork with no visible matting, frames, or background. All accepted work must be available to exhibit and is required to be for sale. The gallery retains a 20% commission on sales. There is an award for an Emerging Pastel Artist, eligible to APS members who have not won an award in any pastel society exhibition. The show ends Monday, March 3, with painting pick-up from Tuesday, March 4 – Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
