Celebrate! Wisconsin Sculptors, Art in Public Spaces: Egg Harbor

The Public Arts Initiative of Egg Harbor, Wisconsin announces Celebrate! Wisconsin Sculptors, an inaugural exhibition of sculptural works in public spaces. The organization invites Wisconsin artists only to participate. Ten sculptural works will be selected for exhibition in outdoor public spaces throughout the Village of Egg Harbor from Memorial Day through the second weekend of October 2017. Door County attracts over 4 million visitors annually.

Eligibility is limited to living Wisconsin artists. The entry fee is $35. Artists must submit one completed sculpture with three images (two views and one detail). Additional submission materials include contact information, resume, artist statement addressing what inspires you, your studio, and your definition of an artist, a narrative description of the artwork (title, weight, dimensions, materials, and price), and installation considerations. Selected artists must indicate whether their work should be installed on a concrete pad (4'x4' or 6'x6') or directly in the ground, and provide maintenance instructions upon selection. Artists are asked whether they would be available to present a public lecture or presentation during the season.

All submissions must be for sale. Selected artists agree to pay PAI a 30% commission fee. Artists are responsible for delivery and pickup of their artwork during scheduled dates (May 22-25 for installation and October 16-20 for pickup). A $200 honorarium will be paid to each artist within three weeks of installation. Artwork must have mounting hardware already secured, be safe with no sharp protruding surfaces, and be sturdy enough to withstand Wisconsin weather conditions including high winds, ice, snow, rain, and temperature extremes. If artwork submitted is an edition, the edition must be of 12 or less. PAI will maintain insurance for selected artwork at its sale price for the duration of the exhibition. Submission deadline is March 31, 2017. Selection notification will be sent April 18, 2017. The opening celebration is May 28, 2017, and the exhibition closes October 15, 2017.
