About This Call
In honor of SCWCA's 50th anniversary, this open call invites self-identified women artists to submit work to Celebrate!, a juried exhibition marking five decades of creating community through art, education, and social activism in Southern California. The exhibition welcomes a wide interpretation of the theme, encouraging artists to reflect on and celebrate what matters most in their lives and creative practice—whether personal milestones, social progress, relationships, the natural world, identity, resistance, cultural heritage, or the act of making art itself.
Eligibility is open to artists and photographers working in all media except AI. Submissions are limited to six original artworks per artist as high-resolution JPGs. Work must be appropriate for viewers of all ages. Maximum size for 2D work is 48x48 inches; the gallery will provide pedestals for 3D work. No video, installation, or performance works are accepted. All artwork must be framed or have clean, painted canvas edges, with neutral-colored matting only. Work must be ready to hang with screw eyes and hanging wire (wire not provided). All artwork must be for sale; the gallery handles sales with 75% proceeds to the artist and 25% to Burbank Arts Federation. Artists are advised to insure their artwork as no insurance is provided.
Entry deadline is Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11:59 MST. Entry fee is $40 for one work, with up to five additional entries at $5 each. Acceptance notices will be sent Friday, August 15, 2025. The exhibition runs September 5-25, 2025 at Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center Gallery, 1100 West Clark Avenue, Burbank, CA. Artwork delivery is Tuesday, September 2, 2025, 9am-12pm. A potluck opening reception is Friday, September 5, 2025, 7:00-9:00 pm. Artwork pickup is Friday, September 26, 9:00 am-Noon. The juror is Holly Jerger, Art Galleries Director at California State University, Northridge.
