About This Call
The Center for Contemporary Arts is hosting its 5th Annual National Juried Art Show & Competition. The exhibition runs from September 30 – November 27, 2021, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on October 2 from 3:00-5:00 PM.
This national competition is open to all artists 21 years of age and over. All work must be original and produced within the last three years. Accepted media includes all traditional media and 2D digital art; video and mural work are not accepted. Wall-mounted 2D work should not exceed 48" in the longest dimension when framed. 3D wall-hung work cannot exceed 36x36". Freestanding indoor work cannot exceed 3 feet in any dimension. All artwork has a 50 lb weight limit. Entry submissions are made through CaFÉ (callforentry.org). Entry fee is $35 for one image, with additional entries at $20 each (limit 3 entries). For 3D entries, artists may optionally include video submissions showing multiple angles. The deadline for entry submissions is August 27, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
Selected artwork must be hand-delivered or shipped to the Center no later than September 18, 2021. All shipping charges are the artist's responsibility. Artwork must be shipped in sturdy, reusable containers with no popcorn packing material. Only plexiglass glazing is accepted (except for pastel art which may use glass). Artwork must be dry, ready to install, and have hardware pre-installed for immediate gallery installation. The Center prefers entries that are for sale; for sold work, the CCA retains 20% of the selling price as a donation and remits 80% to the artist. Awards include Best of Show ($1,500), Juror's Award ($750), Merit Award ($500), and category-specific 1st Place awards ($500 each) for Oil, Watercolor, Pastel/Dry Media, Acrylic, Mixed Media, Photography, Digital, Fiber, and Sculpture. The juror is Liz Trosper, an artist-educator and Assistant Professor at The University of Texas at Dallas.
