About This Call
Care is a national juried exhibition reflecting on the impact of caregiving on those who provide care and those who receive care. The exhibition invites artists to submit works exploring the joys, hardships, and everyday realities of caregiving and receiving in all of life's phases; art that has emerged from a practice of caregiving; collaborative pieces between caregiver and care recipients; and work that explores care in all of its intimacy, banality, and profundity.
The exhibition runs June 20 through August 1, 2026, at the South Haven Center for the Arts (600 Phoenix St, South Haven, MI 49090). Work will be selected by a committee of four, including two staff from Region IV Area Agency on Aging, a staff person from the Center for the Arts, and artist Sarah Rydecki. Artists selected may be invited to further participate through additional displays, artist panel discussions, and workshops. The exhibition is displayed concurrently with a community art project titled Windows to Our World, which includes collaborative pieces made between caregivers and care recipients.
Entries are open to artists residing in the United States and Tribal Nations that share these geographies. A maximum of five works can be submitted. Accepted artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. All work must be framed and exhibition ready, wired (no sawtooth hangers); no clip frames with exposed glass edges. Close-ups or videos may be submitted to show 3D or moving pieces. Entry fee is $5.00 for up to five pieces. Prospective entrants must submit images in JPEG format, with each work requiring a title and optionally a brief statement explaining how the piece relates to the theme Care. Notifications will be emailed by May 19, 2026. Delivery of accepted work is May 30 through June 13, 2026, or by other arrangement. Shipped work must arrive by June 12, 2026. Opening reception is Saturday, June 20, 2026. Artwork pickup is August 4 through August 7 during normal business hours, or on the closing day, Saturday, August 1, from 4-5pm. Contact: (269) 637-1041 or [email protected].
