About This Call
Capturing the Beauty of Open Land is a plein air painting event sponsored by the Douglas Land Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit land trust dedicated to protecting the natural character and open space of the central front range region of Colorado. Artists are invited to paint on beautiful, privately conserved properties in southern Douglas County that are rarely open to the public. The event includes an orientation meeting on Monday evening, June 17, 2019, followed by painting on conserved lands June 17-21, 2019, and concludes with a VIP art show reception and sale at the White Pavilion in downtown Castle Rock, Colorado on June 21, 2019. The art show continues through June 23, 2019.
Artists may submit up to six images for jurying, representative of their typical work. All submitted work must be available for sale, with prices set by the artists. The Douglas Land Conservancy will handle all sales and retain a 40% commission, with 60% going to the artist. Subject matter must reflect conserved lands, and all work must be wired and ready to hang. Artists are responsible for insurance if desired; the Douglas Land Conservancy will not be responsible for damage or loss.
Application fee is $35 (non-refundable). Entry deadline is April 1, 2019. Notification of acceptance will be provided no later than April 20, 2019, with artists required to accept their invitation by April 30, 2019. Eligibility is open to all artists painting in plein air. Contact: [email protected]
