About This Call
Capturing the Beauty of Open Land is a plein air painting event presented by Douglas Land Conservancy, a fundraiser dedicated to protecting the natural character of Douglas County and neighboring lands. Artists are invited to paint on beautiful, private conserved properties in southern Douglas County that are rarely open to the public. The event includes a week of painting on location (June 21-25, 2016) followed by a VIP art sale and reception at the White Pavilion in downtown Castle Rock, Colorado. Volunteers will be available on site to provide information and directions to painting locations.
Artists may submit up to five images for jurying, representative of their typical work. All submitted work must be available for sale at the Art Show/Reception (June 24-26, 2016). The Douglas Land Conservancy will handle all sales with a 40% commission to the organization and 60% to the artist. Prices are set by artists. All work must be wired and ready to hang, with subject matter reflecting conserved lands.
Application fee is $35 (non-refundable). Entry deadline is March 1, 2016, with notification of acceptance by March 16, 2016. Artists must accept their invitation by March 30, 2016. An orientation meeting is scheduled for Monday evening, June 20, 2016. The event is open to all artists painting in plein air. Insurance is the responsibility of the artist. For more information, contact [email protected].
