Cape Fear Studios' National 2D Competition

Cape Fear Studios announces its 14th National 2D Competition, a juried competition open to all artists 18 or older in the United States. The exhibit will be on display June 27 - August 19, 2025 in the Cape Fear Studios Main Gallery in Fayetteville, NC. The juror is Luana Luconi Winner, a founding member of the Portrait Society of America and Master of Pastel with the Southeastern Pastel Society.

Artists may submit a maximum of two 2-dimensional entries. Works must be completed in the past 2 years, not copied from any other artist or published materials, not created under supervision, and not previously exhibited in Cumberland County, NC. All works must be for sale. Accepted media includes all 2D painting and drawing media, hand pulled prints, and collage. Photographs, recolored image transfers, and digitally produced images will not be accepted. Works may not exceed 36" x 36" including frame and must be properly wired for hanging (no sawtooth hangers). Plexiglass is required on all shipped works on paper. Diptych and triptych are only accepted when created as a single concept in multiple frames.

Entry fees are $35 for the first entry and $15 for the second entry. Awards include Best in Show ($1000), First Place ($750), Second Place ($500), and two Honorable Mentions ($50 each). Artists will be notified of acceptance or decline no later than May 28, 2025. Accepted works must be shipped or hand delivered between June 18-24, 2025. The opening reception and awards ceremony is Friday, June 27, 2025 from 6-8pm. Cape Fear Studios retains a 30% commission on any sales. Artists are responsible for insurance and shipping costs. Any artist withdrawing an entry after acceptance will not be eligible to enter this competition for 2 succeeding years.
