Cape Fear Studios' 2024 National 2D Competition

Cape Fear Studios announces its 11th National 2D Competition, a juried exhibition open to all artists 18 or older in the United States. The exhibit will be on display June 28–July 23, 2024 at Cape Fear Studios Main Gallery, 148 Maxwell Street, Fayetteville, NC.

Eligibility and Requirements: Artists may submit a maximum of two 2-dimensional entries. Works must be completed within the past 2 years, not copied from other artists or published materials, and not previously exhibited in Cumberland County, NC. All works must be for sale. Accepted media includes all 2D painting and drawing media, hand-pulled prints, and collage. Photographs, recolored image transfers, and digitally produced images will not be accepted. Works may not exceed 36 x 36 inches including frame and must be properly wired for hanging (no sawtooth hangers). Plexiglass is required on all shipped works on paper.

Entry Fees and Awards: Entry fee is $35 for the first entry and $15 for a second entry. Awards include Best of Show ($1000), First Place ($750), Second Place ($500), and two Honorable Mentions ($50 each). The juror is Paula B. Holtzclaw, a North Carolina artist known for landscape and still life paintings. Artists will be notified of acceptance or decline by May 31, 2024. Accepted works must be delivered or shipped to arrive June 18–21. Cape Fear Studios retains a 30% commission on any sales. The artist is responsible for insurance and shipping costs. Any artist withdrawing an entry after acceptance will not be eligible to enter this competition for 2 succeeding years.
