About This Call
Sage Memorial Hospital invites artists from all 2D disciplines to submit original artwork for the Canvas of Care art initiative. Selected artworks will be displayed throughout the new hospital facilities, including waiting rooms, patient rooms, and common areas. The hospital aims to create a visually appealing and healing environment that reflects the diversity of the Navajo community and celebrates themes of health, wellness, community, and compassion.
Submissions must be 2D in any medium, including paintings, photographs, mixed media, textiles, or digital art. Artists must have a strong connection to the Navajo community and submit high-resolution images (JPEG or PNG format, 300 dpi) with a maximum of 20 pieces per artist. Each submission must include the artwork title, dimensions, medium, year created, and a brief artist statement describing the inspiration behind the work. Artists must be at least 18 years old, and all submissions must be original creations. Artwork must be available for display by January 2024. For non-donated artworks, pricing information should be provided. Donated artworks are welcome and must be clearly marked as "Donated" or "Donation" in the image description; selected donated artists will be required to sign a "Gift of Deed" form.
Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of experts from the art community and hospital staff, who will consider quality, originality, and relevance to the project themes. Selected artists will be notified via email and receive recognition on the hospital's website and social media platforms. The project has an allocated budget of $50,000 to cover artwork purchases, materials, framing, and installation fees.
