About This Call
Scottsdale Public Art seeks existing work and new concepts for temporary artworks, participatory activities, and performances for installation on the banks of the Arizona Canal during annual Canal Convergence events at the Scottsdale Waterfront. Projects should be land-based temporary installations, performances, projections, make and take activities, and/or social practice work. Ideas are welcome for a variety of sites in the Scottsdale Waterfront area including the canal paths, grass, and surrounding infrastructure. Exact locations do not need to be determined at the proposal stage.
Eligibility is open to regional artists from the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington) and the Southwest (Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah), including individuals and collectives/groups/teams. Project budgets range from $2,000 to $15,000. Submissions must include a proposal narrative describing the initial design concept, potential materials, and fabrication methods. Visual materials are optional and may include images of existing work, sketches, renderings, plan drawings, photos of models, video narratives, or presentations, along with a resume.
Submission deadline is June 29, 2015 at 11:59 PM MDT. Applicants may submit up to 3 applications. Submissions will be reviewed June 30 - July 10, 2015, with notification of selection results via email July 13-17, 2015. Selected artists will work with Scottsdale Public Art to fully develop concept, scale, budget, and technical details during July 20 - August 28, 2015. Canal Convergence 2016 is scheduled for February 25-28, 2016.
