About This Call
Scottsdale Public Art seeks proposals for temporary interactive community artworks, hands-on workshops, live mural paintings, projections, music and performances for Canal Convergence │ Water + Art + Light 2018 at the Scottsdale Waterfront. The event will take place over two consecutive weekends: February 24 & 25 and March 3 & 4, 2018, from 4-10pm. Large scale public art installations will be featured during the full length of the event with installation prior to February 24th and de-installation after March 4th. All other programming will be chosen to be featured during one or both weekends.
Next year's event will focus on sustainability. Artists are requested to address this topic from various aspects including water conservation, sustaining life in the desert, the importance of natural resources, environmental awareness and climate change. The use of solar power and biodegradable materials are encouraged. Eligibility is open to all local, national and international artists, including individuals, collectives, groups and teams.
Categories and budgets are: Land-based temporary art installations up to $30,000; Dance Performance up to $8,000; Projection and 3D mapping up to $7,500; Workshops up to $5,000; Artist @ Work up to $6,500; Music performances up to $1,000 per band or $750 per solo artist. Submissions must include a proposal narrative describing the design concept, materials, fabrication methods, and budget estimate, along with visual materials such as images of existing work, sketches, renderings, plan drawings, photos of models, or video narratives. Each artist or team may submit up to two proposals. Deadline: July 31, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Submissions via callforentry.org.
