About This Call
Scottsdale Public Art seeks existing artwork and new concepts for temporary artworks, participatory activities, and performances to be installed on the banks of the Arizona Canal during Canal Convergence | Water + Art + Light 2017 at the Scottsdale Waterfront from February 23-26, 2017. This year's event will focus on sustainability, and artists are encouraged to address this topic from various aspects including water conservation, sustaining life in the desert environment, and climate.
The call welcomes all local, national, and international artists, including individuals and collectives/groups/teams. Project budgets range from $2,500 to $25,000 USD. Scottsdale Public Art is looking for ideas of various scales for multiple sites at the Scottsdale Waterfront area, including canal paths, grass, and surrounding infrastructure. Desired project types include land-based temporary installations, interactive installations for Marshall Way Bridge, art installations providing shade, performances, projection and 3D mapping, make and take activities and workshops, and social practice work.
Submissions must include a proposal narrative describing the design concept, potential materials, fabrication methods, and budget estimate; visual materials such as sketches, renderings, photos of models, or video narratives; and images of previous work. Applicants should submit 3-5 images total through the CaFE online application platform. Selection results will be notified by August 5, 2016, followed by proposal development and contract negotiation. Installation occurs in February 2017, with artwork removal on February 27-28, 2017. Questions should be directed to Andrea Teutli at [email protected].
