Camera Work: Trees and Water

Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition on Trees and Water. The exhibition will feature contemporary photography exploring both subjects in a dynamic and diverse presentation. Water can include oceans, rivers, pools, fountains, rain, mist, fog, lakes, snow, and waves. Trees serve as powerful subjects of composition, providing strong visual foundations for exploring space and time. The gallery seeks photographs that demonstrate the powerful visual language of contemporary photographers documenting these subjects.

The exhibition will run November 1-25, 2024. The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 25 years of experience in arts education and curation. Twenty-four photographs will be selected for exhibition at the gallery, with an additional 30 photographs selected for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.

Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers submit high-resolution TIFF or JPEG files for printing on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer using Epson Premium Luster Photo paper in a color-calibrated environment. Exhibition prints are retained in flat files after the show for future promotion and sales. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing occurs without prior consent. Entry fee is $40.00. Photographers may submit 1-5 images. The application deadline is October 11, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Open to international photographers.
