About This Call
Black Box Gallery is hosting a landscape and architecture juried group photo show. The exhibition explores the process and diversity of observation, interpretation and documentation of these two photographic genres, examining how compelling, significant and relevant photographic work engages the aesthetics, craft, tradition and concepts of landscape and architectural photography.
Juror Todd Johnson is the founder and director of Black Box Gallery, with an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. He has served as a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida, Critical Mass, Dodho Magazine and Blue Sky Gallery, and has worked as an independent curator for exhibitions at numerous institutions including Linfield College, Gallery Homeland, The Waiting Room Gallery and others. Johnson has 25 years of experience in arts education and arts administration, with exhibitions nationally and in the Portland area.
The exhibition runs July 1-20, 2023. Twenty-four photographs will be selected for exhibition at the gallery, with an additional 30 photographs selected for the online gallery annex. All 54 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books. Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting and framing for all exhibitions using archival ink jet printing on Epson Premium Luster Photo paper. Selected photographers must provide high resolution TIFF or JPEG files. Exhibition prints are kept in flat files after the show for future promotion and sale. The gallery takes a 50% commission on sales, with 50% going to the photographer. Artists may elect for prints to be for exhibition and promotion only, not for sale. Entry fee is $40. Submissions must include 1-5 images. Open to all photographers internationally.
