About This Call
CCNY invites emerging photographers living in New York City to apply for the 2014 Darkroom Residency Program. The residency offers local photographers workspace in New York City as well as access to the CCNY community and programs.
Benefits include three months of free, 24/7 access to CCNY facilities (darkrooms, digital work stations, and shooting studio), free admission to all 2014 CCNY events, a monthly stipend and donated material support during the residency, and a potential solo exhibition at CCNY after the residency term (dependent on funding). Eligibility is open to all artists currently residing in New York City who are working in photography or lens-based art. Students must have completed their studies on or before January 1, 2014 to be eligible. Living accommodations are not provided.
Applications must include: a work sample of up to 10 images (CCNY strongly urges applicants to submit images from a single body of work), a letter of intent (maximum 300 words) addressing what you aim to accomplish during the residency and how it would benefit your artistic work and career goals, a brief one-paragraph artist statement (maximum 300 words), and a one-page CV. The application process is free. A jury of photography professionals will review all eligible applications. Applicants will be notified of their status by December 23.
