About This Call
CCNY invites emerging photographers living in New York City to apply for the 2012 Darkroom Residency Program. The residency offers local photographers workspace in New York City as well as access to the CCNY community and programs.
Residents receive three months of free, 24/7 access to the CCNY facility, free admission to all 2012 CCNY events, and a monthly stipend plus donated materials during their residency. All artists currently residing in New York City who are working in photography or lens-based art are eligible to apply. Students must have completed their studies on or before January 1, 2012 to be eligible. Living accommodations are not provided.
Applications must include: a work sample of 10 images (recommended to illustrate a single body of work), a short paragraph letter of intent describing what you aim to accomplish with the residency, a brief one-paragraph artist statement, and a one-page CV. A jury of photography professionals will review all eligible applications. Applicants will be notified of their status by mid-December. The program is supported in part by Fujifilm, Kodak, public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the New York State Artist Workspace Consortium.
