Call to Visual Artists & Graphic Designers - LBJ Campus Expansion Project

Harris Health, represented by art consultants Davis Cohen Art (DCA), invites visual artists and graphic designers to submit qualifications for art opportunities within the Lyndon B. Johnson (LBJ) Hospital Campus in Houston. Opportunities include both interior spaces in the new hospital currently under construction and outdoor locations across the LBJ Hospital Campus. This call is open to individual artists, artist teams, and graphic designers currently residing in Harris County. Previous experience with commissioned projects in healthcare settings is not required, and artists of all experience levels are encouraged to apply.

The goal is to enhance the healing atmosphere by using artwork to connect with patients, families, and caregivers. DCA and Harris Health seek to match selected artists' aesthetics with appropriate spaces within the hospital and campus. The submission process requires three components: an Artist Questionnaire, a Biography/CV or Statement of Interest, and 5-10 images of artwork or design work (including renderings, completed artwork, or concept designs). Both abstract and representational designs are welcome.

Harris Health is the public health safety net for the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the country, serving an ethnically diverse population. The LBJ Hospital Campus is located in Northeast Harris County near the Fifth Ward and Kashmere Gardens. The Art Program seeks to reflect the full demographics of Harris County and the communities served by Harris Health. Entry deadline: May 15, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Event dates: August 25 - October 10, 2025. Budget varies by project.
