Call for Photographers: "IN PROTEST: GLOBAL ACTIVISM" Exhibit

The Chicago Center for Photojournalism (CC4PJ) announces "IN PROTEST: GLOBAL ACTIVISM," an international juried photo exhibition exploring the history of people in protest. Photographers worldwide are invited to submit photographs depicting the spirit of questioning the status quo, including documentation of local grassroots movements, nationwide protests, or individual acts of resistance. Timed with the 2024 USA presidential election, the exhibition honors photographers who tell stories of resilience and the collective power inherent in democracy.

The juror will select two sets of images. Selected images for the Exhibition Gallery will hang in CC4PJ's physical gallery in Chicago, IL during the exhibition (October 10 – December 3, 2024), while additional images will be selected for the Online Gallery. CC4PJ is located in Uptown, Chicago, and focuses on celebrating, preserving, and teaching photojournalism with emphasis on visual storytelling and community engagement.

Submissions must include 5-10 photographs in JPEG format (1,200 pixels minimum on longest side, under 5 MB, sRGB color profile). Selected images for gallery exhibition should be high-resolution at approximately 4,500 pixels (15 inches) on the longest side at 300 ppi. File naming format: year made - last name - first name - 01 (example: 1968-Balterman-Lee-01.JPG). Submit a short bio and context around the photographs with dates, locations, and circumstances. Entry deadline: September 7, 2024, Midnight CST. Entry fee: $30.00 ($20.00 for students); additional media fee: $5.00. Notification of acceptance: September 12, 2024. Delivery of selected artworks: September 28, 2024. Open to student, amateur, and professional photographers worldwide, 18 years or older. All submitted images must be original works created by the photographer.
