Call for Outdoor Sculptures - Art on the Street 2022

Exhibit your sculpture outside in Old Town Lafayette, Colorado for one year through the Art on the Street (AOTS) sculpture on loan program. Lafayette features each sculpture on its own web page and prints brochures in English and Spanish. If your sculpture is selected, the honorarium is $1,000 for a one-year installation. Three additional prizes are awarded each year: the $1,000 Jean Mellblom Award for Artistic Excellence, the $500 People's Choice Award, and the $500 Most Inspiring! Award. The program is entering its 14th year with 20 Art on the Street sculpture locations to fill.

Submit up to 5 photos of one sculpture per application. A photo with a yardstick or another size/scale reference is highly encouraged. Only one sculpture per application is allowed, but artists may submit multiple applications. Installations are scheduled for the second full week of April (April 12, 13, 14, 2022), with rain/snow alternate dates of April 19-21, 2022. Public Works crew will carefully install artwork to steel pedestals or concrete pads with steel inserts under artist supervision and assistance.

The Public Art Committee will make selections in November 2021, and artists will be notified by December 2021. The official artists' reception, Art on the Street: See & Respond! Meet the Artists Reception, is held in October 2022 at the Lafayette Public Library. Uninstallation is scheduled for late March 2023.
