Call for Original Artwork Images for Publication

Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) is seeking artwork submissions from adult visual artists around the world to enhance its annual report and communications. Up to ten artworks that evoke RMI's work, mission, and values will be selected for publication in the annual report, distributed in print and digital formats to global donors, businesses, and government leaders. RMI will not purchase the selected artworks but will pay artists for the rights to utilize images of their work in RMI's annual report and marketing and communications.

Accepted media include painting, drawing, printmaking, illustration, fine art photography, digital arts, sculpture, metalsmithing, installation, assemblage, glass art, paper art, book art, land art, wood art, fiber art, textile art, collage, and mixed media. AI-generated, sound, video, animated, and performance artwork are not accepted. Both abstract and representational work will be accepted. Submitted artworks should evoke RMI's mission and values and convey a sense of hope and possibility. Artists may submit up to three original artworks. Work created in the last five years is preferred, though submissions need not be new. The artwork must reproduce well in print and digital media, and artists must have documented rights and authority to publish the work internationally.

Selected artists will receive stipends based on placement: $3,000 for front cover (1 selected), $1,000 for back cover (up to 1 selected), and $500 per artwork for internal pages (up to 10 selected). Artist credit with name and country will be included in the publication and each time the artwork is reproduced. Artwork images will be used in RMI's collateral including social media, email newsletters, presentations, websites, and other digital and printed materials. The annual report reaches approximately 4,000 print recipients and 80,000 email recipients. Submission deadline is June 30, 2024 at 11:59 PM MDT. Selected artists will be notified by July 31, 2024, and non-selected artists by August 16, 2024. There is no submission fee. For questions, contact [email protected].
