Call for Murals: Winter 2025

The City of Henderson is calling on all artists to participate in a themed public art mural call. Visual artists working in any physical medium may participate, including individual artists, teams of artists, and college-based art programs. Artists must be 18 years or older.

Five mural sites are available: Site 1 at Dos Escuelas Park features a 476 square foot Conex box between two baseball fields, with a budget of $14,280. Site 2 at Boulder Creek Park includes exterior bathroom walls (215 square feet) visible from the park and Boulder Highway, budgeted at $7,525. Site 3 at Pumpkin Park is a 384 square foot Conex box in a community garden requiring a community engagement component, with a budget of $16,520. Site 4 is a 980 square foot wall at No. 1 Boba Tea Social on Water Street in downtown Henderson, themed around "Go with the Flow" and highlighting Asian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander cultures, budgeted at $34,300. Site 5 consists of utility boxes on Water Street with a budget of $5,580. Selected artist(s) will be compensated from $25-$35 per square foot, with additional budget allocated for projects requiring community engagement.

Applications must include a mock-up of the proposed mural (limited to 2 pages), a written creative approach statement, a physical approach statement describing materials and equipment, a CV/resume, and up to three examples of previous mural projects. For projects with a community engagement component, artists must provide an approach to community engagement and examples of previous community engaged projects. The entry deadline is January 13, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artists will be notified of acceptance by February 10, 2025. Selected artists must begin work by March 31, 2025 and complete murals within 2 weeks of the start date, with possible timeline adjustments for community engagement projects.
