Call for Murals: Buffalo Bills Highmark Stadium

The Buffalo Bills Public Art Program seeks to commission new murals for the permanent collection at the new Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, New York. Murals may include hand-painted artworks, digitally designed and installed imagery/graphics, mosaic or tile wall artwork, or other wall-based mediums such as polytab or canvas. Depending on location, some areas may be hand-painted onsite while others will require digital files to be printed and installed on walls.

Wall-based pieces will be located in public spaces on concourse and suite walls throughout the stadium. Artwork must follow requirements to avoid interference with adjacent seating, monitors, concessions, and wayfinding, and be under 4" depth per ADA regulations. Artwork should be designed to withstand occasional contact from the general public. Archival materials including indelible inks, stable materials and primers, UV resistant coatings, and anti-graffiti topcoat are required, as installation will be exposed to natural light, weather, temperature changes, air circulation, and high-traffic from visitors and fans.

Artwork themes should welcome visitors and locals to Highmark Stadium and embody moments in Buffalo Bills football history, representations of Buffalo NY, local landmarks, fan engagement, traditions, or other meaningful representations. These can be realistic or abstract. In your application, include a proposal for new artwork with sketches/rendering images and description, locations/sizes of interest, materials, and general budget breakdown. Proposals may include a single artwork or multiple artworks as a cohesive group. Any use of AI-generated artwork must be notated in the proposal. Commission budgets range from $10,000 to $30,000 each, all-inclusive, and vary per location and size. Finalists may only be selected for one location.
