About This Call
Haverstraw River Arts Fund Inc., in collaboration with The Haverstraw African American Connection (H.A.A.C.), seeks muralists for the Haverstraw Riverwide Arts Mural Project. Two sites are available: Site 1 is the exterior building wall at 38/40 Clinton St (750 square feet) overlooking the Haverstraw African American Memorial Park, and Site 2 is the pavement within the park at 41 Clinton St (1500 square feet). The two sites should complement each other. The project aims to promote knowledge, acceptance, and appreciation of African American heritage on the Hudson River.
Artists must provide background information including educational credentials and proof of professional mural experience, examples of previous public work, and references. All artists must supply proof of general liability insurance with minimum coverage of one million dollars and workers' compensation coverage. Artists must demonstrate the ability to meet project deadlines and perform work promptly and professionally. All materials must be of high quality with durability for outdoor weathering, including UV protection and containing no lead.
Compensation is $25,000 for Site 1 and $8,000 for Site 2. The compensation is all-inclusive, covering final artwork design, digital file preparation, applicable NY sales/use tax, insurance, employees, transportation, food, housing, installation, materials, scaffolding, site prep, site safety, site cleanup, and production of the mural. Applicants must submit 4-15 images and up to 2 videos. Regional eligibility applies to New York artists.
