Call for Exhibition Proposals

Coos Art Museum invites artists, curators, and creative visionaries from across the western United States to submit proposals for exhibitions scheduled in 2027–2028. The museum seeks bold ideas that spark dialogue and leave lasting impressions on the community. This open call welcomes solo exhibitions presenting a singular voice, curated group shows that bring artists together in conversation, and thematic proposals that reframe how we see the world. The museum is especially interested in work that challenges conventions, bridges disciplines, and amplifies diverse perspectives of the region.

Proposals are reviewed by Coos Art Museum's Education & Interpretation Committee based on artistic merit and originality, clarity of proposal, feasibility, relevance and resonance with audiences, and engagement with experimentation. Selected exhibitions will receive support from the museum including standard installation and deinstallation assistance, marketing and promotion, and access to gallery furniture, basic AV equipment, and display materials as available. An artist or curator honorarium will be provided for each scheduled exhibition.

Proposals must include an exhibition proposal (up to 500 words), artist or curator statement (up to 1000 characters), and CV or resume (1–2 pages). Eligibility is open to artists and curators who live and/or work in the western United States, including Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Collaborative proposals and curator-led group exhibitions are welcome. Work samples must include a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 images. The application deadline is September 21, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Semifinalist interviews are scheduled for early to mid-November 2025, with finalists selected in mid- to late November 2025.
