About This Call
Point Pleasant Publishing, founded in 2014 and based in Jersey City, New Jersey and the New Jersey Shore, is an international contemporary art publisher specializing in critical essays on visual art. Selected artists are featured with detailed curatorial review essays in the catalogue, with each featured artist receiving a dedicated spread. The extensive art book also includes Point Pleasant Journal and Shoreline Voice publications. All writing is 100% human-created content with no artificial intelligence used. Essays are available on the Point Pleasant website and Substack.
Point Pleasant Publishing accepts experimental and alternative forms of visual art including photography, performance, video, film, installation, assemblage, collage, fiber, printmaking, light design, jewelry, and fashion/costume design. Analogue digital work is accepted, but AI-generated work is not eligible. The publisher no longer publishes articles on painting, drawing, traditional sculpture, or traditional ceramics, and these mediums are ineligible.
Artists are selected based on accomplishments, originality, conceptual impact, overall cohesiveness of portfolio, and aesthetic qualities of the art. The opportunity is open to international artists.
