About This Call
Point Pleasant Publishing, founded in 2014 and based in Jersey City, New Jersey and the New Jersey Shore, is an international contemporary art publisher specializing in critical essays. Selected artists are featured with detailed curatorial review essays in the catalogue, with each featured artist receiving a generous six-page spread. The extensive art book includes Point Pleasant Journal and Shoreline Voice publications in addition to catalogue essays and artist features. All writing is 100% human-created content with no artificial intelligence used. Essays are available on the Point Pleasant website, Substack page, and Artwork Archive.
Point Pleasant Publishing accepts experimental and alternative forms of visual art including photography, performance, video, film, installation, assemblage, collage, fiber, printmaking, light design, jewelry, fashion/costume design, and analogue digital work. Painting, drawing, traditional sculpture, and traditional ceramics are ineligible. Artists are selected based on accomplishments, originality, conceptual impact, overall cohesiveness of portfolio, and aesthetic qualities of the art. Alternative and experimental artists are especially encouraged to apply.
