About This Call
Strata Gallery 501(c)3, a non-profit membership gallery located at 125 Lincoln Ave, Suite 105, Santa Fe, NM 87501, is accepting applications for its Emerging Artists Membership Program. The gallery showcases the work of internationally established artists and promising emerging artists whose work falls outside prevalent avant-garde trends. Strata Gallery avoids favoring any distinct style and promotes a range of authentic individual expression embodying diverse material practices, imagery, style, and ethos.
The one-year Emerging Artist Membership includes one solo exhibition (approximately two weeks), participation in an annual group exhibition (approximately three weeks), an artist page on the website, promotion on social media and newsletter, access to a monthly opportunities email list, direct mentorship from established artists, and the opportunity to learn how to curate a solo exhibition and understand non-profit gallery operations. Artists retain 80% of all works sold, with Strata Gallery taking a 20% commission. There are no membership dues, though the gallery encourages contributions of time or resources where possible.
Applicants must submit 10-15 JPG images (72 dpi, approximately 1 MB file size) in a single PDF, along with a cover letter, bio, curriculum vitae, and artist statement (PDF format preferred) via CaFé. Membership requirements include attending four cohort meetings, a director curatorial meeting, an exhibition mentorship meeting, participating in a solo exhibition and group exhibition, gallery sitting (3 days), and developing and leading one creative workshop (virtual or in person). Eligibility is open to artists working in all media who are not represented by a commercial gallery and are not in a tenured/tenure track teaching position or retired from one. The application deadline is March 30, 2024. Notification of accepted applicants will be sent by May 1, 2024. The entry fee is $35. Strata Gallery encourages applications from candidates of all underrepresented groups, including BIPOC artists and artists identifying as LGBTQ+.
