About This Call
The Glenn & Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center is seeking submissions from individuals and groups working in all media to exhibit for the 2015-2016 gallery season. The Walters gallery seeks to display original fine art that is engaging to a broad public audience of all ages.
Eligibility: This opportunity is open to regional artists who are able to deliver and pick up artwork in person or via a designated representative. Artwork must be original (no prints) and created by the artist. Both emerging and experienced artists are eligible. Applicants may be individual artists or designated representatives of artist groups. Applicants must have 15-30 pieces on average (large-scale works may be fewer) and artwork must be available for display for a full 6-8 week period between July 2015 and June 2016.
Artwork Requirements: Artwork must be clean, framed or prepared for display professionally, and ready to display. 2-D pieces must have a tight wire attached across the back no more than a quarter-length down from the top. 3-D pieces must stand freely and securely on the floor or on a stand. Artists are responsible for packaging and removing their artwork at a pre-scheduled time at the end of the exhibit.
Application Materials: Submit 8-10 digital images in jpg format, an artist statement (1000 characters or less), a bio (300 words or less), and an exhibit concept (300 words or less). Applications must be submitted online at www.callforentry.org or postmarked by November 20, 2014. Artists will be notified no later than January 30, 2015.
Sales and Liability: In the case of any sale, the Walters Cultural Arts Center retains a 30% commission. Artwork, including work sold, must remain on display for the full duration of the exhibit. The Walters assumes responsibility for artwork during the exhibition period according to the consignment agreement. Insurance in-transit is the responsibility of the artist. Artists must sign a consignment agreement before their work can be shown.
