About This Call
The City of Mountlake Terrace, Washington invites regional and Pacific Northwest artists to submit Letters of Interest or Audio/Video Statements of Interest and Statements of Qualifications, along with a resume and project renderings or examples of work. The city seeks an artist or team of artists to design, fabricate, and install permanent public artwork for the northern portion of the Civic Campus located at 23200 – 58th Avenue West (southwest corner of 232nd Street SW and 58th Avenue West).
The selected artist or team may propose a single installation or a series of artworks. The artwork should be site-specific, relevant to the community, and contribute to place-making for the public gathering space/Town Center Park/Plaza. The artist will work with the City's Arts Advisory Commission, City staff, MacLeod Reckord (landscape architect), and ARC Architects to develop the artwork and participate in community outreach. Artworks will be maintained and owned by the City of Mountlake Terrace.
The overall project budget is $84,000 to approximately $90,000. The selected artist or team will receive a commission of $81,000 to approximately $87,000 to design, fabricate, and install the artwork. Up to $3,000 total will be available to pay stipends for selected finalists to participate in Part 2 of the selection process. The budget is all-inclusive of travel expenses, Washington State Sales/Use Tax, and other project costs. Civic Campus redevelopment construction is planned to commence in mid-2019 with completion occurring mid-2020. Application deadline is Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time Zone.
