About This Call

Pajaro Valley Arts invites artists living and/or working in the greater Bay Area to submit work for What Are You Worried About?, an invitational and juried exhibition curated by journalist and artist Lillian Schroth. All genres — and worries — accepted! Whatever keeps you up at night has a place in this show. The worries we carry can be deeply personal —money, relationships, kids, insomnia, anxiety, paranoia about what other people think, wrinkles. Or they can stretch beyond you, to your city, your country, or the world — AI, the economy, wealth inequality, immigrant rights, Democrats, Republicans, tyranny, climate change, the wars in Gaza, Ukraine and Iran, vaccines or the lack thereof. The list goes on, and on. What are YOU worried about, and how is it expressed through your work? We welcome all art forms and mediums — painting, sculpture, collage, video, audio, writing (poetry, essay, protest signs and other forms of political expression, even a short statement) — whatever vehicle carries your worry best.
