About This Call

The Public Arts Advisory Board of the City of Wylie, Texas, seeks to commission original, exterior, site-specific artworks that are functionally, philosophically, and artistically integrated into spaces for the New Walking Trails and Disc Golf Park. The Municipal Complex includes a three-story City Hall, a two-story Recreation Center, and a single-floor Library set on a 253-acre green belt with walking and nature trails and a meadow for public gatherings. The one-mile long, 12-foot wide concrete trail traverses the property from Brown Street on the north to FM 1378 (Country Club Road) on the southeast, meandering along the existing tree line and crossing two creeks. This is the first phase of a more expansive trail system envisioned for the future.

Three spaces are available for art located at each entrance of the walking trails. The budget for Site #1 and Site #2 is $130,000 each, and the budget for Site #3 is $52,000. Each budget includes artist's fee, travel during fabrication and installation, engineering, materials, fabrication, transportation, documentation, insurance, permit fees, and lighting.

Applicants must submit 10-15 images and up to 1 video. The call is open to national artists. Entry deadline: 5/13/16 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
