About This Call
Baton Rouge Community College is seeking artists for a public art commission for its new 92,800-square-foot Nursing and Allied Health Building, which broke ground in 2023. This state-of-the-art facility will support existing programs and provide space for expansion into emerging areas such as Respiratory Care, Physical and Occupational Therapy, and Athletic Training. The proposed artwork should integrate visually and materially with the building's façade while offering a clear narrative presence. The installation site will be located at a key entry or gathering point, creating opportunities for high visibility and engagement.
The artwork must be durable and suitable for long-term outdoor display. Suggested materials include glass, steel, concrete, or other weather-resistant media. This is a national call open to professional artists and artist teams (age 18+) with demonstrated experience in public art and large-scale installations. Applicants must have a minimum of five years of professional visual art experience and a proven ability to execute projects of similar scale, complexity, and visibility. All submitted work must be original and completed within the past ten years. Artist teams must designate a lead contact, and artists are limited to one submission.
Applications must include an artist résumé, a letter of interest outlining your artistic vision and how your work relates to the project goals, references from three individuals with whom you have worked or collaborated, and up to 10 images of original completed commissions or artworks (not proposals, sketches, or 3-D models). Each image must include the title, medium, dimensions, project budget in US dollars, year completed, location, and a description. Up to 3 videos of work examples are optional. The project budget is $170,000. Entry deadline: August 8, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT.
