About This Call

Confluence Gallery, located in the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge's Education and Visitor Center in Bloomington, MN, is accepting exhibit proposals for their 2021 and 2022 exhibition program years. The gallery is a venue for emerging and established Minnesota-based artists who create artwork with a focus on nature and natural elements, ecology, conservation, and/or the beauty of the Minnesota River Valley. The deadline to submit proposals is January 15, 2021, and applicants will be notified of the curatorial panel's decision by February 15, 2021.

Proposal requirements include: an artist statement or proposal description of 1000 characters or less indicating how the artwork aligns with the gallery's mission; 10 digital artwork samples saved as standard JPEGs (1200 pixels or more on the longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, under 5 MB file size); information about each work sample including title, medium, size, and date of completion; an optional resume or biographical summary (two-page maximum); and a $15 non-refundable application fee. Proposals will be reviewed by a Curatorial Review Panel based on relevance to the gallery's mission and theme, quality and artistic excellence, creativity and originality, technical skills, and overall exhibition proposal. While solo exhibitions are likely, selected artists may be combined to create two-person shows. In addition to proposals selected through the jury panel process, Artistry/Refuge may also invite artists directly to exhibit. Due to COVID-19, artwork may be displayed and presented using online and virtual modes, including an online exhibition catalog and virtual gallery tour with artist interview via video.
