Call for Art: Between Us

Crooked Tree Arts Center invites Michigan artists 18 and older to submit work for the exhibition "Between Us," which explores connection, distance, and everything that exists in the in-between. The exhibition invites artists to reflect on how we reach for one another — and ourselves — across emotional, physical, and imagined spaces. Whether through intimacy or absence, care or tension, humor or vulnerability, the show looks at the invisible threads that link us and the quiet gaps that keep us apart. All mediums are welcome, including abstract, conceptual, representational, installation, sound, video, textile, photography, and ceramics.

Eligibility is open to Michigan residents 18 years and older. Works must have been created and completed within the last three years. Size limits are 60 inches at the greatest dimension and up to 50 pounds for wall-hanging and freestanding works; contact the gallery for exceptions. All work must arrive assembled and stable. Diptychs and triptychs are allowed but must be submitted and priced as one piece. The entry fee is $30.00 per artist ($20.00 for CTAC members, free for Guild members). Artists may submit up to three works online via CaFE.

Submission deadline is November 18, 2025. Notification of acceptance will be sent November 26, 2025. The exhibition runs January 16 - February 21, 2026 at Crooked Tree Arts Center in Traverse City. Work must be delivered between December 13-20, 2025, or shipped to arrive by December 19. Artists are responsible for transportation costs. Unsold work must be picked up between February 23-28, 2026. Crooked Tree Arts Center retains a 40% commission on all sales. Works must not have been previously exhibited at this venue.
