About This Call
The City of Fayetteville invites applications from artists of all disciplines to implement an activation, class, performance, or installation in the Lower Ramble during July-December 2023. The activation should occur over most of a four-hour period or present an equivalent or greater display period of passive activation. A passive activation or installation must not extend longer than 90 days. The goal is to add artistic activations throughout the Lower Ramble that engage a diverse public audience.
The theme is open, but content must be appropriate for the season outdoors and for all members of the public. The city welcomes submissions from all disciplines and is particularly interested in funding projects in the following categories: Performance/Music (music, theatre, dance, storytelling, soundscapes, pop-up performances, happenings); Education (interactive or participatory projects); Visual Art (painting, sculpture, collage, digital, fabric arts, kinetic); and Wellness/Fitness (yoga, meditation, tai chi). Artists must declare which category their proposed activation falls into most closely. New or existing work may be submitted. The city will select as many artists, teams, or groups as they see fit.
Each activation receives a fee of $500, with the option to request an additional $350 in materials. Performances may move about the park area or activate one location and will be scheduled with staff input. Applications will be reviewed and ranked by the Fayetteville Arts Council programming subcommittee and evaluated on Artistic Merit, Activation Level, and Achievability. All artists are eligible to submit, though no additional funds are available for travel or lodging. The Fayetteville Arts Council actively seeks to support local and regional artists. For assistance or accommodations, contact Joanna Bell at [email protected] or 479-718-7605.
