Call and Response

Crooked Tree Arts Center in Petoskey, Michigan is accepting submissions for the exhibition Call and Response. The exhibition explores how art has the power to communicate, inspire meaningful dialogue, and facilitate the exchange of ideas. Crooked Tree Arts Center is seeking original works of art that consider these themes. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly and creatively, with possible approaches including works that inspire viewers to take action, works created in response to another creative work, works responding to events or experiences, or works responding to feelings or intuitions. All media are eligible for entry.

This call is open to all United States residents, 18 years and older. Artists may submit up to three entries. Entry fee is $35.00 per artist ($20.00 for CTAC members; Guild Members may enter for free). A media fee of $10.00 applies. Work samples must include a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 total samples (images, audio, or video). Still images must be submitted as JPEG files with dimensions of 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side and file size under 5 MB.

The exhibition will be on display in Petoskey's Bonfield Gallery from September 21 - December 18, 2020, and will also be viewable online at www.crookedtree.org. Submissions are accepted online from July 9 - August 11, 2020. Notification will be sent August 17, 2020. Artists are responsible for transporting work to and from Crooked Tree Arts Center. Work must be delivered between September 8 - 11, 2020, during posted gallery hours. Work must be picked up during gallery hours on December 21, 22, 23, 2020, January 4 - 8, 2021, or by appointment. Works delivered with return shipping arrangements will be sent by January 8, 2021. Crooked Tree Arts Center galleries are sales galleries; works can be for sale with price set by the artist, and Crooked Tree Arts Center retains a 40% commission on all sales.
