About This Call

Morgan Community College Center for Art and Community Enrichment (CACE) coordinates the four-day Western Art Show in collaboration with the Brush Rodeo Association Fourth of July celebration, held July 1-4 at the Mark Arndt Event Center at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Brush, Colorado. The event is sponsored by Hubbard Feeds.

The show opens July 1 with a V.I.P. social and dinner for participating artists. During the V.I.P. social, invited sponsors and guests vote for The People's Choice piece of western artwork, which will be featured on promotional materials for the following year's event. The winning artist agrees to submit a high-resolution digital image of the artwork to the CACE coordinator following the show. A print of that artwork may be framed and sold at the next year's event to benefit the Brush Rodeo Foundation Scholarship. The show is free and open to the public July 2-4. A maximum of 30 artists will be accepted.

Artwork must be original and not completed in a workshop or tutorial session. With rare exception, artwork must be for sale. An artist's statement is preferred. 2D artwork must be wired and ready to hang from pegboard hooks. Display boards vary in size, ranging from two tall 7'x 4' panels hinged to open like a book, to two-sided 4' x 8' horizontal panels. Tables and shelving are available for 3D pieces. Very large sculpture pieces can be displayed outside in front of the event center. Artists must transport and install artwork on July 1 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Artwork must be removed by 8:00 PM on July 4 or between 9:00 AM and noon on July 5. Regional artists who can deliver and retrieve artwork according to these dates are eligible. No shipping service is available. Preferred but not limited to 2D and 3D original artwork depicting western and rodeo themes. Additional prints and other reproductions may also be sold. All sales are conducted by docents at the show and paid to the MCC Foundation. After the show, artists receive 90% of their sales by check from the Foundation, with 10% retained by CACE. Cash or credit cards are preferred for transactions.
