About This Call

Morgan Community College Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) coordinates the four-day Western Art Show in collaboration with the Brush Rodeo Association Fourth of July celebration, held July 1-4 at the Mark Arndt Event Center at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Brush, Colorado.

The show opens July 1 with a V.I.P. social and dinner for participating artists. During the V.I.P. social, invited sponsors and guests vote for The Peoples' Choice piece of western artwork to be featured on promotional materials for the following year's event. The winning artist agrees to submit a high resolution digital image of the artwork to the CACE coordinator following the show. A print of that artwork may be framed and sold at the next year's event to benefit the Brush Rodeo Foundation Scholarship. The Western Art Show is free and open to the public July 2-4. Artists are urged to attend during the show when possible and are welcome to actively work on art pieces to engage visitors.

A limit of 25 artists will be accepted. Entry fee is $15.00. Submit 3-6 images of work through May 15, 2024. Invited artists will be notified by June 1, 2024, and must sign and return an artist contract by June 15, 2024. Regional artists must deliver and install artwork July 1, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, and retrieve it by July 4 at 8:00 PM or July 5, 9:00 AM-noon. No shipping service is available. Preferred artwork depicts western and rodeo themes in 2D or 3D original work; prints and reproductions may also be sold. 2D artwork must be wired and suitable to hang from pegboard hooks. Display boards vary in size; tables and shelving are available for 3D pieces; very large sculpture can be displayed outside. All sales are conducted by CACE attendants; artists receive 90% of sales by check from the MCC Foundation, with 10% retained by CACE.
