About This Call
The Morgan Community College Center for Arts and Community Enrichment (CACE) coordinates the four-day Western Art Show in collaboration with the Brush Rodeo Association Fourth of July celebration. The event is held at the Mark Arndt Event Center at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in Brush, Colorado.
The show opens on July 1 with a V.I.P. social and dinner for participating artists. During the V.I.P. social, attendees vote for the piece of western artwork that will be the centerpiece for the following year's event poster and promotional materials. The winning artist agrees to submit a high resolution digital image of the artwork to the CACE coordinator following the show. A print of that artwork will be framed and sold at the next year's event to benefit the Brush Rodeo Foundation Scholarship. The Art Show is free and open to the public July 2-4. A maximum of 25 artists will be accepted.
Entry fee is $15.00. Applications must include 10 images minimum 1200 pixels on longest side, file size not exceeding 5 megabytes. Selected artists will be notified by June 1, 2023, and must sign and return an artist contract by June 15, 2023. Artists must transport and install artwork on July 1 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and remove artwork by end of show on July 4 or by 9:00 AM to noon on July 5. Regional artists who can deliver and retrieve artwork are eligible. Western theme artwork in both 2D and 3D is preferred but not limited to. 2D artwork must be wired and suitable to hang from peg board hooks. Tables and shelving are available for 3D pieces; very large sculpture can be displayed outside. Art sales are encouraged with 90% paid by check to the artist and 10% retained by CACE.
