About This Call
The Cableland Art Project (CAP) is an annual, temporary, site-specific art program promoted in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Denver. The program aims to enhance the newly renovated Mayor's Residence and promote art and artists from the Denver area. Artists, representatives, or owners will propose a piece to be donated to the Cableland Home Foundation. Upon acceptance by the jury, the piece will be displayed at Cableland, the Official Residence of the Mayor of Denver, located in the Hilltop Neighborhood. The piece and information about the artist will be made available to all guests and attendees at the home until the auction date in November to coincide with Denver Arts Week.
The available area for art includes 900 square feet of interior wall space, a triangle-shaped art shelf (indoor), and numerous outdoor 3D art locations. Selected artists must provide a "ready to place" art piece that weighs under 100lbs to hang or 200lbs to place, can be installed easily without a crane, and requires no electricity or water. Work must deliver compelling visual/sensory impact and appropriate content for a general audience of all ages. Artists must also provide written information about the piece and artist for inclusion in marketing materials.
Preference is given to artists who currently live in, work in, or represent the greater Denver Metropolitan Area working in all media. Artists will be offered 50% of the auction price as an honorarium. For the auction, the donor will be gifted four tickets for entry. All proceeds benefit the mission of the Cableland Home Foundation. A site visit will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. Jury decision is April 8, 2013, with installation on April 29, 2013. The CAP Auction is scheduled for November 6, 2013. Submit 1-4 images of your work.
