By Hand - An International Fine Craft Competition

By Hand is an international fine craft competition sponsored by the Creative Arts League of Sacramento, exclusively featuring handcrafted items. The competition welcomes work in all media including furniture, vases, jewelry, wall hangings, macramé, and sculptures made from glass, clay, wood, metal, and fiber. There are no material limits.

The competition is open to artists everywhere. All artwork must be original and completed within the last two years, and cannot have been previously exhibited at Blue Line Arts. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Work samples should include 1-10 images. The entry fee is $35 for one artwork, $40 for two, $45 for three, and so on up to ten pieces, with an additional $5 media fee per image. All artwork must be individually priced for sale, ready to hang (if wall-hung), and able to fit through doors with 94"h x 91"w clearance. Nothing over 80 lbs will be accepted.

The exhibition runs January 20 - March 2, 2024. Results will be sent by December 15, 2023. Cash awards include: 1st Place $2,000, 2nd Place $1,500, 3rd Place $1,000, 4th Place $500, and People's Choice $350. The guest juror is Elizabeth Kozlowski, Editor of Surface Design journal. Blue Line Arts handles all sales transactions with a 50% commission for non-members and 60% for current Artist Members. A full-color catalog of the show will be available for purchase.
