About This Call
Bullseye Glass Company offers two types of residencies with applications due March 1st at 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time for July-December placements. Entry fee is $15.00. Work sample requirements include 10-12 images, 0-1 audio file, and 0-2 videos (10-15 total samples).
Resource Center Residencies at locations in Santa Fe, New Mexico; Bay Area, California; Los Angeles, California; and Mamaroneck, New York are open to artists and artist groups and provide extended access (up to three months) to facilities plus a materials budget. These are available to current residents of the region and accepted biannually for Winter/Spring and Summer/Fall openings. Bullseye Studio residencies at the Portland factory are open to regional, national, and international artists and artist groups, typically ranging from 2-6 weeks. The studio provides access to facilities, a materials budget, and housing if required. Established and emerging artists from all disciplines are eligible; artists with little to no kiln-glass experience are encouraged to apply but may be asked to attend a workshop in advance. Artists are not required to finish a project during their residency but will share their work, developments, and research with the Bullseye community through notes, blog posts, images, public lectures, studio visits, and various events.
A panel of Bullseye staff, fellow artists, and art professionals selects 8 artists or artist groups for residencies each year. Proposals must be compatible with available studio tools and space and accommodate the multi-use nature of Resource Centers and Bullseye's mission. Accommodations are not available at Resource Centers but are available based on need at the Portland facility. Residents are not allowed to sleep overnight in studios. Artist teams or collaborations must be clearly identified with each artist submitting images and indicating their level of experience; preference is given to teams with at least one person with extensive kiln-glass training. Artists are responsible for food, travel, and other expenses not covered.
