About This Call
Bullseye Glass Company offers two types of residencies for artists and artist groups. Resource Center residencies at Bullseye Resource Centers in Santa Fe, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and New York provide extended access (up to three months) to facilities and a materials budget. These are available to current residents of the region and are accepted biannually for Winter/Spring and Summer/Fall openings. Artists are responsible for food, travel, housing, and other expenses.
Bullseye Studio residencies at the Portland factory are open to regional, national, and international artists and artist groups. Factory residencies are for concentrated project-based explorations ranging from 2-4 weeks depending on project parameters. Bullseye provides access to facilities, a materials budget, and housing if required. Residents are responsible for food, travel, and other expenses. Established and emerging artists from all disciplines are eligible. Artists with little to no experience with kiln-glass are encouraged to apply but may be asked to attend a workshop in advance to familiarize themselves with the studio and kiln-glass methods.
Artists are not required to finish a project during their residency but will share their work, developments, and research with the Bullseye community through notes, blog posts, images, public lectures, studio visits, and various events. A panel comprised of Bullseye staff, fellow artists, and art professionals chooses 8 artists or artist groups for residencies each year. Proposals must be compatible with available studio tools and space and must accommodate the multi-use nature of Resource Centers and Bullseye's mission. Accommodations are not available at Resource Centers. At the Portland facility, accommodations are available based on need, and residents are not allowed to sleep overnight in studios. Proposals for artist teams or collaborations must be clearly identified with each artist submitting images and indicating their level of experience. Preference is given to artist teams containing at least one person with extensive training in kiln-glass practices. Entry fee: $15.00. Submit 5-12 images and up to 1 video.
