Bugs Aplenty - An Exhibition at Elisabeth Jones Art Center

The Elisabeth Jones Art Center is hosting an exhibition celebrating insects and their role in ecosystems. The exhibition seeks artwork about bugs, including detailed studies of insects themselves, imagery exploring their interactions with humans or their environment, and work in all artistic styles and media. A portion of all artwork sales will go to the Xerces Society, a Portland-based nonprofit focused on research and conservation of invertebrates.

Three cash awards are offered to top selections chosen by curators: $150 for first place, $100 for second place, and $75 for third place. Submissions should include high quality images of the work (up to 20 images) along with information about medium and dimensions. The submission deadline is December 17, 2020. Jury selections will be made and participants notified by December 23, 2020. Artwork must be shipped or hand-delivered to the gallery in Portland, Oregon by January 15, 2021, properly framed and ready to install. The projected exhibition dates are February–March 2021, with a strong chance of extension through Spring.

All artwork accepted to the exhibition will be offered for sale. In the event of a sale, the artist receives 50% of the sales price, the gallery receives 40%, and 10% is donated to the Xerces Society. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to the gallery; the gallery is responsible for return shipping of unsold works. The entry fee is $15.00.
