Buffalo Creek Art Center Summer Residency Program

Buffalo Creek Art Center is a nonprofit educational 501(c)(3) corporation offering summer artist residencies for three-dimensional artists working in metal, wood, ceramic, and multi-media with an emphasis on aesthetics and craftsmanship. The program runs from June 1 through October 30, with artists able to select 4, 6, or 8-week stays. All residents receive free room and workspace with access to all equipment.

The 34-acre property includes a three-thousand square foot, four-bedroom ranch house where each artist has their own bedroom, with shared kitchen, living room, and outdoor patio. The fully equipped four-thousand square foot metal shop features MIG, TIG, and Oxy-Acetylene welders, plasma cutter, 48-inch Wysong plate roller, hydraulic lifts, and hand tools with twenty-foot ceilings and a telehandler fork lift. A separate 3,500 square foot woodworking shop is available twenty minutes away. The ceramic studio includes an electric kiln, potter's wheel, and slab roller. Vehicles are available for local errands. The property also features a 1,000 square foot indoor art gallery (Train Station Art Gallery) and 500 square feet of outdoor covered space where artists can display work, with periodic public art shows.

Buffalo Creek Art Center is located in Gardnerville, Nevada, at the base of Jobs Peak in the Sierra Nevada, a twenty-minute drive from Lake Tahoe and one hour from Reno/Tahoe International Airport. Airport transportation can be provided if necessary. Applicants must submit 10-20 images. International artists are eligible.
