About This Call
The Bryan Artist in Residence program offers one selected artist the opportunity to live and work in the Kasparov Lofts in Bryan, Texas for approximately one year. The selected artist will receive a 750 square foot unfurnished apartment and studio space with utilities included (water, electricity, and internet). A $3,000 stipend will be provided in full at the beginning of the residency to assist with groceries, fuel, and supply purchases. If an artist leaves early, a pro-rated amount must be returned to The Arts Council.
Any artist is eligible to apply, including those working in 2-D mixed media, 3-D mixed media, ceramics, digital media, drawing, fiber arts, literature, music, painting, poetry, photography, printmaking, and sculpture. Applicants must be available to live in Bryan for the entire one-year term, be fluent in English, have reliable transportation, and be eligible to live in the United States. All applicants must pass a background check. The residency is for individual artists only; no partners, spouses, or long-term guests are allowed, though pets may be permitted at the discretion of BCS Modern.
Artists are responsible for supplying their own materials, equipment, furniture, household items, and all other bills. The residency does not furnish specialized equipment such as kilns, darkrooms, forges, or power tools. Artists may hold a part-time job during the residency (no more than 20 hours per week). The Arts Council will provide PR opportunities including radio interviews, promotion at events, newsletter inclusion, and networking opportunities. Any artwork sold through The Arts Council or from the workspace will be subject to a 70/30 commission split (70% to artist, 30% to The Arts Council), with 2.5% credit card fees deducted if applicable. Entry fee: $25.00. Work sample requirements: 3-6 images, 0-3 audio files, 0-3 video files (3-6 total samples).
