Brush with Burden 2017 Art Exhibition

Brush with Burden 2017 Art Exhibition is open to all U.S. residents 17 years of age and older. Works must be original, produced in the past three years, and never previously exhibited in Brush With Burden. All artwork must be priced and available for sale, including frame. This show accepts all art media except video and film. A maximum of six entries will be accepted from any artist.

The exhibition features two categories: The Art Show in the Orangerie and The Photography Show in the Conference Center. Both categories offer awards: First Place ($400), Second Place ($300), Third Place ($200), Honorable Mention ($150), and Four Merit Awards. All award-winning works will be displayed at the Shaw Center for the Arts for the month of April following the show.

Entry fee is $20 for one entry and $15 for each additional entry (up to six entries). Work samples must be submitted as JPEG images only, with minimum dimensions of 1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, and maximum file size of 5 megabytes. Maximum size for two-dimensional work is 46 inches by 46 inches (including frame). Maximum for three-dimensional works is 48 inches high and 18 inches wide. Accepted entries must be suitably framed, wired for hanging, in stable condition, with Plexiglass (no glass), gallery wrapped 1.5 inches, and under 30 pounds. A 25 percent commission will be assessed on all sales. Artist checks will be mailed within two weeks of sale. Items selected for Shaw Center exhibition must be picked up on May 3, 2017, or will be subject to a $20 per day storage fee or considered a donation to the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens.
