Brush with Burden 2016 Art Exhibition

Brush with Burden 2016 is an art exhibition open to all U.S. residents 17 years of age and older. The theme is "Southern Sights." All art media are accepted except video and film. Works must be original, produced in the past three years, and never previously exhibited in Brush with Burden. All artwork must be priced and available for sale.

Artists may submit up to six entries. The entry fee is $20.00 for the first entry and $15.00 for each additional entry. Digital image submissions must be in JPEG format, no larger than 1920 pixels on the longest side, 72 ppi/dpi resolution, and 3 MB maximum file size. Two-dimensional works including frame cannot exceed 46 inches by 46 inches. Indoor three-dimensional works should be no more than 48 inches high and 18 inches wide. Outdoor sculptures must be structurally sound, made of durable materials appropriate for extended outdoor display, and capable of being securely anchored. Recommended size for outdoor sculptures is approximately 3 feet to 7 feet. All accepted outdoor sculpture will remain on exhibit until April 15th.

The Art Show in the Orangerie and the Photography Show in the Conference Center each offer awards: First Place $400, Second Place $300, Third Place $200, Honorable Mention $150, and four Merit Awards. All award-winning works will be displayed following the show at the Shaw Center for the Arts. A 25% commission will be assessed on all sales. The exhibition runs March 13-20, 2016, with an opening reception on March 12 at 4 p.m. and awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Drop-off for accepted entries is March 10, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. (hand delivery required). Pick-up is March 21, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Accepted artists will be notified by email on February 17, 2016. All two-dimensional entries must be suitably framed or gallery wrapped, wired for hanging, and in stable condition.
