Brownsville Museum of Fine Art, 46th International Art Show

The Brownsville Museum of Fine Art is accepting submissions for the 46th International Art Show. All artists 18 and older are welcome to submit original works. The entry fee is $40 for up to 3 artworks, with a submission deadline of March 7, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MST via www.callforentry.org.

Accepted categories include: Painting (oil and acrylic); Oil and Soft Pastel; Drawing (pen, pencil, colored pencil, charcoal); Water Media (watercolor, gouache, India ink); Mixed Media (including collage); Printmaking (etching, woodcuts, monograph, lithograph, aquatint); Three-dimensional Sculpture (relief, in the round, jewelry, ceramic); Photography; and Digital Media (including enhanced photography). All wall art must be framed with d-rings or wire and ready for hanging. Canvas must be framed or gallery wrapped. Three-dimensional works must be stable and ready for presentation. All artwork must be for sale, and the BMFA requires 30% commission on direct sales from the exhibition.

The exhibition runs April 25 - May 26, 2018. Awards total $4,500, including Best of Show ($1,500), Clara Ely Award ($500, oil and acrylic only), Octavia Arneson Award ($500, water media only), Mayor's Award (Commemorative Plate), First Place in each of nine categories ($150), Second Place ($50), and Third Place ($25). Artists will be notified of acceptance between March 12-16, 2018. Work must be shipped in reusable containers with prepaid return labels via UPS, FEDEX, or USPS, or hand-delivered April 2-6, 2018 during museum hours. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs.
